Just Announced!  VBID Expansion
In a recent call with reporters, CMS Administrator Seema Verma announced plans-through the CMS Innovation Center-to increase flexibility for health plans participating in VBID.  In 2020, participating plans may include more telehealth and SDOH services.  In 2021, VBID plans will be qualified to cover Medicare's hospice benefits.

APG Webinar:  MA Part I Advance Notice
Last month, CMS issued Part I of the 2020 Medicare Advantage Advance Notice, which describes proposed changes to the Part C CMS-HCC risk score model for payment year 2020.

APG will host a “Deep Dive” webinar featuring Jennifer Carioto, an actuary from Milliman, on Monday, January 28 at 1:00 pm ET. Jennifer will go beyond the usual reading of the rule and get into what really matters—how these proposed changes can impact your organization. You can register here.

APG and Others Ask CMS to Extend Deadline for July 1 Cohort ACOs
APG, along with several other associations, is sending a letter to CMS Administrator Verma, urging the agency to extend the February 19, 2019 application deadline for Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) in the July 1, 2019 cohort who are applying to participate in program.

From the letter:
"While we appreciate the Agency’s effort to provide a 6-month participation period in the latter half of 2019 for MSSP ACOs, many have informed us it will be challenging, if not impossible, to meet CMS’s February 19 deadline.  Additional time is needed to ensure ACOs may evaluate their options and complete the administrative and legal requirements of the application."

Congressional Corner:  Innovation Wanted!
The House Health Care Innovation Caucus is presenting an Innovation Showcase at the end of February to give Members of Congress and their staff exposure to the latest innovations happening in the healthcare industry.  The Showcase will feature a diverse group of products and ideas that seek to transform or disrupt different segments of the healthcare industry.  APG is preparing a submission for the Innovation Showcase.
